Sewell elected to Chair of Black Caucus Board

U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (D-AL) was named Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc. (CBCF) Board of Directors.
Founded in 1976, CBCF is a non-partisan, nonprofit, public policy, research, and educational institute committed to advancing the global Black community with the goal of increasing the pool of Black leaders in public service careers and public policy positions, CBCF runs a renowned internship, fellowship, and scholarship program to develop the next generation of leaders.
“It is with great pride and a profound sense of responsibility that I take on this new role as Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, and I thank the Board of Directors for instilling their trust and confidence in me,” Sewell. said.
“As Alabama’s first Black Congresswoman, the mission of CBCF to advance the needs of the Black community is deeply personal to me, and I look forward to leveraging this role to help develop the next generation of Black leaders and scholars.”
Sewell thanked chairperson Lori Billingsley, who is stepping down from the position.
“Lori has provided visionary leadership for the staff and board,” Sewell said. “We wish Lori, Representative Sheila Jackson Lee, Representative Allred, Janice Bryant Howroyd, Earle Jones, Dr. Troy Nash, and Julia Simon the best in their future endeavors.”
