The Morgan Academy girls basketball team will end 2021 ranked in the Alabama Sportswriters Association Top 10.

The Lady Senators (7-4) are ranked 10th among girls in the AISA poll.

Southside (6-4) received votes in the Class 3A poll. The Panthers are led by guards Tae Spears and Chris Thomas.

Leanna Johnson, Sarah Thomas, Bailey Brown, Keenan Lee Mchugh, Margaret McLaughlin, McCann Perkins, Taylor Roberts, Ally Spivey, Madge Minter, Molly Bohannon, and McKenzie King are the Lady Senator players.

The Lady Senators are coached by Lebo Jones.

“This group of girls have grown up together and have played together for a long time,” Jones said. “They work really hard everyday to try to improve.

“I’m just proud of the way we are playing this year. We play an exciting brand of basketball. Hopefully we can continue and make the playoffs.”
