The City of Selma have identified candidates for the vacant Tax Collector and Treasurer positions.
Aaron Roper and Terri Barnes-Smith will be offered the positions of Tax Collector and Treasurer positions, respectively.
The city council approved the selections at Tuesday’s City Council meeting at City Hall.
City Council President Billy Young abstained from voting for Treasurer because he shares an employee with one of the candidates.
If both Roper and Barnes-Smith accept the positions, they will start on November 1.
Young said three finalists have emerged for the vacant Selma Fire Chief position. He did not identify candidates, but said it will be discussed at next week’s Public Safety meeting.
The surveillance camera system was discussed again and brought up by Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr.
In the Mayor’s report, Perkins said
