Reverend James Leonard Farrow, Jr. went to heaven Saturday, March 28, 2020, while living in Columbia, Tennessee. He was born June 25, 1929 in Claude, He was the third son of Leonard and Olga Farrow. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Kathleen Campbell Farrow of Elbert County, Georgia. He was also preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.
James is survived by his 3 sons; Paul Farrow (Jan), Joel Farrow (Kaye), Carl Farrow (Allison). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and a beautiful array of 18 great grandchildren.
James grew up in the Wetumpka area of Alabama to a sharecropper family. Following a call into the ministry, he graduated from Huntington College in Montgomery, AL. He earned a Masters of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University and began pastoring in 1955 at Harmony Methodist Church, Titus, Alabama. Reverend Farrow served 10 appointments during his 40 years of pastoral ministry.
James was known for his strong pastoral skills and love for his congregation and community. He was a very attentive and loving husband. He will be remembered as a very present and kind father and grandfather. His sense of humor was a joy to experience and brought smiles to all of our family gatherings.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Church Street United Methodist Church in Selma. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. and the service will begin at 10 a.m. Bishop David Graves, District Superintendent Mike Pearson, Reverend Diane Everette, and Reverend Joel Farrow will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation of your time and resources to your local church.
