The Selma City Schools are hosting a strategic planning summit on Thursday morning.
The event starts at 9:30 a.m. in the Selma High School Media Center.
SCS is relaunching their five-year strategic plan, A Framework for Excellence. Team Selma launched the Framework for Excellence 5-year strategic plan three years ago.
Dr. Avis Williams, SCS Superintendent, said the COVID-19 pandemic forced the plan to get updated.
“So much has changed since then and we are responding by updating our plan with new, robust and timely strategies and goals,” Williams said. “The pandemic caused us to have to pivot forward and it changed our thinking. However, it did not change our commitment to excellence and this new strategic plan speaks to that.”
SCS will introduce a new area, safety and wellness. This area will focus on physical, emotional, and mental safety of scholars and staff with the objective of fostering healthy minds and bodies in a safe and engaging learning environment.
The summit will be shared live on the SCS Facebook page. Stakeholders are encouraged to review the plan and provide feedback.
After the summit, a draft of the plan will be available on the SCS website with a link for parents, guardians, and community members to provide their feedback.
