Leika’s School holds graduation ceremony
The Kindergarteners of Leika’s School graduated Thursday night under a unique theme.
Decked in white caps and gowns, the Class of 2021 happily marched down the hall to their seats and awaited diplomas.
The theme for this year’s graduation is Tall, Tall, Tales, celebrating classic books with legendary fictional characters as Clementine, Annie Oakley, Blackbeard, Paul Bunyan and Cat in the Hat.
“We’re trying to get the parents to read to their children books that they were accustomed to reading growing up,” Leika’s co-director Joy Green said.
The 18-member kindergarten class: Braxton Leroy Cummings IV, Sawyer Wynn Chandler, Peyton Henry Patterson, Mary Latham Durden, Gavin Russell Smith, Jackson Forrester Peak, Easton Reed Potvin, Samuel Alan Wingo, Elizabeth Graham Howorth, Tej Atish Patel, Liam Kade Lovelady, Anne Lanier Holladay, Lincoln Reid Gray, Parker Rush Hughey, Elisa Callen Bolen, Ann Ford Boyd, Daniel Benjamin Smith and Caleb Sundar Namburu.
A Bluegrass band played during the ceremony.
Leika’s co-director Daneen Turner introduced the school’s teacher. Rev. Lance J. Eiland delivered the welcome address.
