TNA Heat basketball wins second championship

The TNA Heat AAU basketball team won a tournament in Foley during the last weekend of March.

TNA Heat went 4-1 in the tournament that included teams from parts of Florida and Southern Alabama.

Conner Williams led the way with 67 points, He hit 15 3-pointers during the tournament.

Derek Smith added 63 points before he got injured.  Eric Smith had 42.  Joshua Davis has 26 points. replacing Derek Smith. Titus Lanier Jr. scored 6 points, but had several assists and played stellar on defense.

Coach Marcus Hannah praised the squad for overcoming adversity.

“Out of all the tournaments that we have played throughout the years, this one is the one I am most proud of,” Hannah said. “Due to the fact that we were down two of our leading players Derek Smith and Myles Hannah.  Mr. Smith was injured during the semi-finals, and was unable to return. Myles Hannah was injured right before the season started. 

“The team came together and put on a dynamic show for the fans at Baldwin County High School.

Marcus Hannah is also director of the Perry Varner Detention Center.

TNA Heat will next play  during the first weekend of May at a tournament in Biloxi, Mississippi.
