Morgan Academy baseball take momentum into Easter weekend

The Morgan Academy baseball team split two games during spring break at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee last weekend.
The Senators beat Morristown West 7-6 in the first game.
Matthew Hand, Davis Vardaman each had RBI singles for the Senators. Osagie Aghedo was the winning pitcher.
The Senators lost to Sevier County 13-3. Osagie Aghedo homered for Morgan Academy. Andrew Thomas was the losing pitcher, despite striking out batters.
Morgan Academy scored all of its runs in the fourth inning.
“It was team bonding, baseball playing and fun time on spring break,” Senators baseball coach Stephen Clements said. “So thankful there were no injuries.”
The Senators returned to Selma and got a 2-0 victory over Tuscaloosa Academy on Monday.
Hayden Roberts was the winning pitcher. Andrew Thomas started and struck out six batters. Osagie Aghedo also pitched in relief for the Senators.
Matthew King’s sacrifice fly drove in a run during the second inning. It was enough to hold off the Knights.
Morgan Academy swept Fort Dale Academy Thursday, entering Easter weekend on a good note.
Trey Jones had three hits and five RBI as the Senators took game one 20-2. Osagie Aghedo, Matthew King, T.B. Clements, Davis Vardaman all drove in runs for the first game.
Jones, Aghedo and Chris Gardner each had three hits. Clements, John Allen Ingram, C.J. Crocker and King all had two hits.
Andrew Thomas got the win and struck out seven batters.
Morgan Academy won game two 10-0. Osagie Aghedo, John Allen Ingram, Trey Jones, Matthew Hand and Andrew Thomas all drove in runs. Aghedo also homered.
Thomas went 3-for-3. Ingram, Aghedo and Hand all had two hits. Hunter Sheehand was the winning pitcher.
Clements is pleased with the Senators’ progress this season.
The Senators (14-5) were nominated for the Alabama Sportswriters Association (ASWA) baseball poll in AISA two straight weeks.
