A junk pile exploded Tuesday morning at B&S Car Crushers and Recycling.

Selma Fire Department, Sardis Volunteer Fire Department and Craig Volunteer Fire Department were on hand to put out the explosion that began after 7 a.m. Tuesday morning. No injuries were reported.

Selma Fire Department Assistant Chief Franklin Edwards said one of the cars in the pile may be one of the reasons for the explosion.

“A battery was left in the car and it was still energized,” Edwards said. “We’re still looking into the explosion.”

Several B&S employers witnessed the explosion and also suspect the car likely caused the explosion.
