Vaughan Regional Medical Center (VRMC) will host its next COVID-19 vaccination clinic Monday, March 8, through Wednesday, March 10, at Bloch Park between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The drive-thru clinic will be administering second doses only, available to those who received their first shot during the clinics early last month, and attendees will be required to show proof that they have already received the first dose via the vaccine paperwork received during the first round.

The vaccination paperwork from the first clinic includes instructions on which day of the week attendees should return for their second dose – if unsure, patients should plan to show up on the same day of the week that they received their first dose.

Attendees must also provide proof of identification and a registration form – second-dose registration forms can be found online at www.vaughanregional.com/coronavirus-covid-19.

The VRMC clinic is one of eight large-scale, mass vaccination efforts taking place across the state this week to provide second doses of the Pfizer vaccine administered last month.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), 920,556 doses of vaccine had been administered across the state as of Monday.

The state is receiving about 140,000 first-dose vaccines every week and has so far received more than 1.3 million doses in total.

At least some of that increase is being credited to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) approval of the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine over the weekend.

“Alabama will receive 40,100 doses of the [Johnson & Johnson] vaccine this week,” a press release from the department stated. “The Johnson & Johnson vaccine will not be used to target a specific population, but will go through our normal allocation process of identifying providers that are next in line to receive vaccine…At this time, it will be s one-time allotment and we do not know when the state will receive additional Johnson & Johnson vaccine.”

Additionally, the ADPH release noted that, as of Monday, vaccine appointments are available at CVS locations in Camden, Evergreen, Jackson and Union Springs and can be scheduled online at www.cvs.com/immunizations/covid-19-vaccine or by calling 800-746-7287.
