Eighth-ranked Morgan Academy falls to No. 1 Glenwood Academy

No. 8 Morgan Academy fell a game short of reaching the AISA state championship game.
Jackson Griner scored two first quarter touchdowns as top-ranked Glenwood Academy prevailed 35-6 in the state semifinals on Friday in Phenix City.
The Senators finished 8-3 under first-year coach and Athletic Director Danny Raines.
Holt Utsey scored the Senators’ only touchdown with two minutes left to play.
It was the final football game for seniors Cobb Beers, Matthew Free, Brody Roberts, Clayton O’Shields, Chris Gardner, Scott Lalone, Josh Brown, Holt Utsey and Kenny Nichols.
The Gators (11-0) jumped out to a 14-0 first quarter lead as Griner scored two touchdowns.
In the second quarter, Kye Robiceaux scored on a 66-yard TD run as Glenwood Academy took a 21-0 halftime lead.
Griner threw two touchdowns to Aaron-Joshua Harris in the second half for Glenwood Academy.
