Southside High School football standout Christopher Bonner has five scholarship offers.
The most recent one is an offer from Culver-Stockton College. Bonner was awarded the Hilltop Scholarship, a $10,500 per year scholarship for four years. The scholarship is based upon academic credentials and renewable, provided the student remains in good academic standing.
Culver-Stockton College, located in Canton, Missouri, is a four-year residential institution in affiliation with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). C-SC is a member of the Heart of America Athletic Conference and competes in the NAIA.
Bonner, who plays tight end and linebacker for the Panthers, said he appreciates the opportunity from C-SC.
“It’s a great opportunity, all of my hard work has paid off,” Bonner said.
Bonner’s three other scholarship offers are from Faulkner University, Huntingdon College, Illinois College and Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Bonner said that Samford and the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, a pair of Football Championship Subdivision schools, have expressed interest. He’s undecided on a college choice.
Academics aren’t a problem for Bonner, who has a 3.2 GPA and 17 ACT. Bonner qualified academically without the NCAA waiving off ACT scores for student-athletes in the Class of 2021.
