Unbeaten Morgan Academy prepares for homecoming contest

Morgan Academy risks its unbeaten record against Southern Academy on Homecoming Friday night.
The Senators (3-0, 2-0) are off to their best start in years.
“I’m really glad for the kids to be 3-0,” Senators coach and Athletic Director Danny Raines said. “The guys have worked diligently and deserve the success they are having.”
Seniors Cobb Beers, Matthew Free, Brody Roberts, Clayton O’Shields, Chris Gardner, Scott Lalone, Holt Utsey and Kenny Nichols will be playing in their final homecoming contest for the Senators, who upset then-No. 10 Monroe Academy last week.
“I’m just extremely proud of my team and what we have accomplished this summer with the corona virus setting us back and everything, we have all been wanting to beat Monroe for the longest time and I feel like it’s a big accomplishment for all of us especially coach Raines,” Utsey said.
Raines expects a challenge from Southern Academy.
“We have another tough game coming up against Southern Academy, I look forward to having another game at home,” Raines said.
Several Senators shined against the Volunteers last week.
Utsey ran for 150 yards and scored two touchdowns. Andrew Thomas threw for 180 yards and two touchdowns to Rhyne Williams, who finished with 146 yards on four receptions.
Defensively, Trey Jones had 11 total tackles and 10 were solos. All nine of Williams’ tackles were solos. Allen Michael Creech had nine total tackles,
