An African-American woman was accidentally struck by a vehicle Wednesday on Pleasant Street and airlifted to a hospital, according to the Selma Police Department.
Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford and SPD Lt. Evelyn Ghant both confirmed that a helicopter landed at Meadowview Church to airlift the victim to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery.
MCS headmaster Bob Taylor also confirmed the helicopter on the church property.
Ghant said the accident happened between 10-10:30 a.m. at the 200 block of Pleasant Street and she gave a detailed description on what took place.
“A woman was walking down the road when a guy turned into a driveway,” Ghant said. “When the man turned in, he did not see her. She was airlifted to Baptist South and doing fine. She has no life -threatening injuries.”
Fulford and Ghant did not identify the victim nor the driver.
