Selma resident dies from gunshot wound

A Selma man was fatally shot on Thursday.

According to Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford, Rodkeithrick Hurry is charged with the death of Napolean Ivory, 19.

Fulford said the shooting took place early Thursday evening at the 400 block of Lapsley Street.

“The Selma Police Department responded to the 400 block of Lapsley Street in reference to a gunshot victim,” Fulford said. “Ivory was the victim walking with a relative when the suspect starting shooting.  Officers were advised that the victim was transported to the emergency room.”

Fulford said Ivy was transported to UAB hospital and later died from the gunshot wound. He also said that Hurry, 28, was later found by the SPD at a hotel in Selma. Hurry is in the Dallas County Jail without bond.

This is the fifth homicide in the Queen City this year, most of which have occurred over the last two months.
