A Selma woman died Friday from a gunshot wound.
“The Selma Police Department responded to a call from the Emergency room in reference to a gunshot victim,” Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford said. “SPD discovered a black woman in her 50’s was already deceased.”
Fulford said the incident occurred at the 2800 block of Bragg Street. He did not reveal the woman’s identity.
According to Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson, the unidentified woman appears to have been shot by her nephew. Jackson did not reveal the man’s identity.
“He was removing a magazine from a gun when it discharged,” Jackson said. “We will present it to a Dallas County Grand Jury. They will decide whether charges need to be filed.’”
The SPD continues to investigate the incident.
