Perry County remains low with COVID-19 cases

Perry County continues to have a low count on COVID-19 cases.

As of noon Saturday, Perry County has nine confirmed cases of COVID-19 despite a huge increase in testing. Test results of 197 people in Perry County have come back, a huge increase of 83 from last week. Cahaba Medical Care had a drive-thru COVID-19 testing site on April 18 at the Dollar General Parking Lot in Uniontown.

Cahaba Medical Care has COVID-19 testing at Respiratory Virus Evaluation Clinic in Marion. The clinic sees any patients with symptoms of possible respiratory illness and provides COVID-19 testing to patients who meet testing criteria.

For the last four weeks, the Perry County Leadership team have participated in a weekly teleconference with Federal, State and Local officials concerning the financial relief available due to the coronavirus along with services and help available for the County. The Perry County Commission, Uniontown officials, Marion officials, Perry County Board of Education, state legislators and federal legislators are among members on the Perry County leadership team.

U.S. Senator Doug Jones, U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell, State Senator Malika Sanders-Fortier and State Rep. Prince Chestnut are among the high-profile officials who spoke on the teleconference call.

Perry County Commissioner Albert Turner Jr. hosts the weekly teleconference.
