The first African-American Police Chief in Uniontown died last week.
Funeral services for Robert T. Hester will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church on County Road 61 in Uniontown. Hester’s funeral arrangements are being handled by Phillip White’s and Julia L. White Funeral home in Uniontown.
Hester, known in Perry County as “T Hester,” died Feb. 12 at his home. He was 90 years old.
Fourth Judicial District Attorney Michael Jackson has fond memories of Hester, who also owned a club in Uniontown.
“Hester was a great Chief and a great guy,” Jackson said. “He always kept a smile on his face. He was great to work with when I was a young District Attorney.”
