Sports dominated the first Valley Grande Council meeting of the year on Monday.
Two bids for the concessions at the Valley Grande Sports Complex will be sent back to the bidders because both amounts were identicial: $1,000.
The city council opted on sending the bids back to the bidders with a one-week deadline. Once the bids are in, the city council will choose at its next meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 6 p.m. at Valley Grande City Hall.
Councilman Jimmy Johnson presided over the council meeting with Mayor Matt Dobbs not present. Johnson said Dobbs was fine with whatever decision the council made.
Valley Grande Parks and Recreation Director Bubba Holley also discussed the upcoming baseball and softball season. Holley said registration will be held Jan. 23-24 and Jan. 30-31 at Valley Grande City Hall.
Holley also said practice will begin a month after registration closes and the seasons to start after that. Holley said he’s contacted Valley Grande businesses and the schools.
Councilwoman Tammy Troha inquired about the schedule. Holley said T-ball, baseball and softball will all be played on different nights, with games lasting one hour.
The next Council meeting will be held Jan. 21, because Martin Luther King Jr. day is a holiday and falls on a Monday.
