Dallas County could have its largest number of state football playoff teams in a decade.

Keith High and Meadowview Christian School can clinch playoff berths with victories on Friday night. Dallas County and Selma High have already locked down playoff bids.

Keith High at A.L. Johnson: The Bears (4-4, 2-3 Region 3, Class 1A) aren’t looking past A.L. Johnson, who lost to Ellwood Christian Academy earlier this month. The Bears won 24-0 last year.

“They’re a well-coached ball club that have yet to win a game, but we are not taking them lightly,” Bears coach Anthony Lumpkin said. “We are going to need to maintain our focus, execute our offense and defense for 48 minutes.”

Cornerstone Academy at Meadowview Christian: Despite having a winless 0-7 record, the Trojans can get into the AISA playoffs with a win. Cornerstone won 44-0 last year.

“It is a big region game,” MCS coach Bob Taylor said. “They throw the ball around a lot. Their quarterback is good and have good receivers. On defense, they fly around the ball. It should be a good game.”

Morgan Academy at Tuscaloosa Academy: The Senators (3-6, 0-3) make a trip to Tuscaloosa for a showdown against the 10th ranked Knights. The Senators won 24-21 last year.

Running back Holt Utsey has rushed for over 1,100 yards for the Senators this season.
