Wellness in Living with Lupus Successfully Lupus Support group in collaboration with Lupus Foundation of America’s Mid-South Chapter will host a “Walk to End Lupus Now” at Bloch Park this Saturday Morning.
Registration for the free event begins at 7:30 a.m. A brief ceremony will take place at 8:45 a.m. and the walk will begin at 9 a.m.
Walk to End Lupus Now Facilitator Jacqueline Moultrie said the event was organized to bring more awareness and provide education about the disease.
According to Moultrie, Lupus is a disease many people are unfamiliar with.
“Lupus is a disease with no known cause and no known cure,” said Moultrie. “Lupus is a disease where the body can look good on the outside, but be sick on the inside.”
Moultrie said it meant a lot to her to be able to facilitate the event.
“I have a relative who was diagnosed with Lupus in 2014,” she said. “It was then when I became really interested in educating people about the disease.”
Moultrie says that the event will be an educational experience where supporters will have the chance to meet and interact with people with Lupus and learn more about how it impacts their lives.
“I’d love to see a big turnout,” said Moultrie.
