County Transportation Plan unveiled

Dallas County Engineer Coosa Jones has unveiled the list of roads selected and approved by the Dallas County Commission for improvement projects.

The funding for the project will come from the revenue collected by the county from the recent tax increase due to the Rebuild Alabama Act.

The road improvement projects in District 1 are 2.10 miles of County Road 62 for an estimated project cost of $135,843.47.

The road improvement projects in District 2 are 1.88 miles of County Road 273 for an estimated project cost of $101,495.00 and 0.90 miles of County Road 86 or an estimated project cost of $128,066.00.

The road improvement projects in District 3 are 0.17 miles of County Road 895 for an estimated project cost of $11,737.00, 1.40 miles of County Road 209 for an estimated project cost of $82,765.00 and 0.75 miles of County Road 45 for an estimated project cost of $135,091.00.

The road improvement projects in District 4 are 1.50 miles of County Road 17 for an estimated project cost of $169,925.00.

The remaining $120,000.00 of the $884,922.47 budget will be used for a not yet designated Federal Aid Project.

Jones stated during the “60 Minute Coffee” event held last Tuesday at Trustmark Bank that construction of these projects will likely begin Spring 2020.

The Dallas County Engineers office hopes to have the full list posted on the Dallas County website and at the Dallas County Court House within the forthcoming days.
