Job Fair gives many an opportunity

On Thursday, Rep. Terri Sewell, D-AL, hosted the 8th Annual Job Fair this time in Selma.
More than 70 employers from 14 industries were in attendance and there were many that took advantage of the opportunity.
“This is the second time we’ve been in Selma in eight years,” said Sewell. “We were here six years ago in the height of the recession and had over 2,000 job seekers. We know that we’re doing better in the Black Belt, and nationwide, but we also know that this economic boom, if you will, has not been evenly distributed. There are still pockets of vulnerable communities that have some ways to go.”
With unemployment numbers for our county and city still being some of the highest, it was important that every job seeker in our area attend.
We hope that they got some good out of today and even landed a job of their own.
