Doug Buster launched the Cemetery Preservation Group (CPG) with the idea of helping locals with the resting places of their family members.

Since the beginning of the organization, Buster and the CPG have helped numerous family members and show no sign of stopping.

However, there are ways that we as the public can help.

“Anything that anybody could do is much appreciated,” Buster said. “This is a very important and very worthwhile endeavor. I truly believe that there are enough good people that this will be taken care of.”

Adopting a plot is the best way to help with the maintaining of cemeteries across the city.

Unfortunately, only a handful of plots have been adopted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has taken on two plots in Old Live Oak and the Black Belt Benefit Group’s (BBG) Clay Carmichael.

There are numerous plots available to adopt and to care for regularly.

“We desperately need churches and civic groups to step up and see if they can adopt at least a portion of one of these three cemeteries,” Buster said. “We desperately need for the community to step up.”

The entire city needs all these groups and individuals to step up and take action into reviving our city that is aesthetically lacking.

Every bit of help goes towards the overall improvement of the image of our city and that goes a long way.
