The Walker Track Club competed in the AAU National Club Track Championship held in Orlando Florida earlier this month.

All four team members- Rashni Walker, Malachi Walker, Ciara Perkins and Josiah Walker- finished among the Top 20 performers.  Rashni, Josiah and Perkins all earned All-American honors.

Rashni was honored in the 15-16-year-old division for 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles. Perkins earned her honor in the 9-year-old Girls shotput.  Josiah was honored in the 13-year-old Shotput.

“We had some good performances and I’m proud of the team, but we still have a lot of work to do,” Walker Track Club coach Jeffery Walker said. “We must continue to work harder and strive for perfection each and everyday.”

Coach Walker loves the potential of Perkins, a fourth-grader at Meadowview Elementary School.

“Ciara will most definitely be one to keep an eye on in the future,” Coach Walker said. “When Ciara comes to practice and get with her big sister, she works so hard. Her Hard work, drive, determination and domination on and off the track, softball field and especially the classroom, where she has a 99.6 average.”

Rashni was impressive on the track circuit this summer, earning first-place honors at three other events. At the Atlanta Relays, she won the 100 meter hurdles. She won the 100 meter and 400 meter hurdles at the Emerging Elite Athletes Midnight Talent Showcase and winning the 100 meter hurdles at Birmingham’s Hilltop Classic.
