The third annual Farmapalooza is set to take place this year at the Orrville Farmers Market.
According to Orrville Farmer’s Market Owner Judy McKinney, Farmapalooza was born out of a brainstorming session to give the people of Orrville and the surrounding area something to do, as well as celebrate the area’s farmers and food artisans.
McKinney says that after the first Farmapalooza, local farmers really saw how the event could function as a platform for them to expand their market and let many more people appreciate the fruits of their labor.
“They saw that we were really putting our money where our mouth is,” said McKinney.
The event saw even more farmers, food artisans and attendees in it’s second year.
McKinney expects a healthy turnout at this year’s festival as well where patrons will be able to sample fresh fruits, vegetables, locally raised meats, jellies, jams, cheeses, pickles and preserves.
After all of that sampling, Patron will receive a locally grown and raised meal including a drink and a desert.
A personal favorite of McKinney’s during last year’s festival was locally farmed southern ambrosia honey, with blueberries and Amish cheese atop a cracker.
“It was amazing,” said McKinney.
This year, McKinney looks forward to sampling locally raised beef. She says that the smell of cooking brisket in the air will had a whole new atmosphere to the event.
Another contribution to the festival’s atmosphere will be the live music scheduled to accompany all of the food available for sampling.
According to McKinney, local, well-known musician Max Spencer along with up and coming local artist Reid Foundren will take to the stage to entertain the patrons at this year’s festival.
“It’s going to be a great time,” said McKinney. “Everyone should come hungry and ready to let their hair down.”
Tickets to Farmapalooza 2019 can be purchased at the Orrville Farmer’s Market up until the day of the event, Saturday, June 29.
