“It’s an honor to play right at home,” Hatcher said. “Signing with WCCS is very important because I always wanted to play college basketball.”

WCCS coach Herman Turner said Hatcher will be a great additiion to the Lady Patriots’ roster. The Lady Patriots also signed Selma High’s Tasharri Grimes two months ago.

“Aaliyah has a lot of things going for her,” Turner said.  “She’s a good person and will be a good student-athlete. On the athletic side, Aaliyah can be stretched from a shooting guard to small forward. She runs the floor well.”

Selma High coach Anthony Harris said Hatcher always did what the Lady Saints coaching staff asked of her.

“Aaliyah is an all-around player,” Harris said. “She’s one of the best players in the state and one of the best to play at Selma High. She can handle the ball and shoot the ball well. She will be missed at Selma High. We wish her well in the future.”
