Central Panthers capture Montgomery City Fest title

An AAU basketball team in Selma recently won the Montgomery City Fest Tournament Championship.

The Central Alabama Panthers, a 15-under AAU team, captured the title with a 46-43 win over the TTA Stars 46-43 on April 27 at the Cramton Bowl Multiplex Area in Montgomery.

Leading scorers in the tournament finals for the Panthers were: Joshua Brown (16 points), Ja’Taveon Spears (14 points), and Kaleb Scott (10 points). Brown was named the tournament’s MVP.

Marvion Jones, Aaron Strong, Sean King, Samuel Taylor, and Travis Anderson also played key roles in the Panthers’ championship victory.

The Panthers are coached by Rodney Brown and James Hardy.

The entire starting lineup all received golden tickets for the All-Star game in Atlanta, Georgia.

The 12-under AAU, the TNA Heat from Selma, is ranked No. 1 in the state for its age group and are among the nation’s best in their division.
