“There’s a pretty good turnout,” Thomas said during the event. “The community gets to see who is hiring and exactly what they’re looking for. That’s a good thing.”

Thomas added that this is the 23rd job fair that’s been put on by DHR, and that they hope to continue to host the event in the future.

“It’s a good job fair,” she said. “It’s good for the community as well as the businesses.”

According to Thomas, around 25 businesses and organizations were set up at this year’s job fair.

The U.S. Marines Corps. was among those informing the community about potential opportunities on Wednesday.

“We’re showing these young men and women what we have to offer and the different opportunities they can have,” said U.S. Marine Corps. Recruiter Sgt. Justin Tartaglia. “A lot of people don’t know what we have to offer until they sit down and talk with us.”

One job seeker stated that the job fair was a great thing for the community.

“Selma could definitely use the jobs,” said Clianna Harris. “It’s a great way for people to come out and get a feel for the opportunity in the city.”
