The Summerfield Volunteer Fire Department held their third annual Crawfish Boil Fundraiser Saturday evening.

Despite the heavy rain, a sizeable crown of around 100 people attended the event.

“There’s usually around 400-500 people her and there’s about 100 now, we’re hoping this rain will blow over and some more people will show up,” said Summerfield Volunteer Fire Department Chief Kenneth Box.

Although the rain was heavy, that didn’t stop people from enjoying the crawfish. Attendees huddled together under tents to enjoy the food and live music as they kept out of the rain.

Though Box was a bit disappointed the rain kept away some of the crowd, he expressed his thanks to all the people that came out in spite of the less than ideal weather and hope the event will continue to grow in the future.

“This is our third year doing this,” said Box. “It’s grown and grown and we hope it continues to do so. We’re going to keep putting this on for as long as we can.”

Box also expressed his thanks for the sponsors who made the event possible including the City of Valley Grande, Dave’s Market, Fuller Building Supply, The Store, B & S Used Auto Parts, Summerlin Hardware & Supply and Automatic Transmission Services.

“We’re really thankful for everyone that made this possible,” said Box.
