The Selma Police Department (SPD) is searching for a man for making alleged “terroristic threats” towards Selma Mayor Darrio Melton, other civic leaders, former elected officials and specific units within the Selma Police Department.

SPD Chief Spencer Collier identified the suspect as Ray Hall of Selma.

Collier said the threats were made on social media.

“Hall’s comments are specific and SPD view these threats with serious validity,” Collier said. “SPD and other law enforcement agencies are actively looking for Hall.

“Threats aimed at law enforcement are common and unfortunately, often come with the job,” said Collier. “However, the vile threats made against civic leaders, former elected officials and our mayor is unacceptable. Given the vicious tone and content of Hall’s threats, we view him as not just a threat to these specific individuals, but to the public safety of our community. All Selma PD resources are committed to capturing Hall or, if necessary, taking whatever action is necessary to prevent Hall from hurting anyone. The smart and safe thing for Hall to do is to surrender to law enforcement.”

Anyone with information regarding Hall is asked to contact the Selma Police Department.
