Ellwood Christian, Selma High shine at Thunderbird Invitational Track meet

Selma High and Ellwood Christian Academy both competed in the Thunderbird Invitational track meet at Park Crossing in Montgomery on Saturday.
The Saints’ boys team finished fourth overall, won a team event and had four top three individual performers.
Broderick Tripp was second in the shotput with a throw of 47-6. Davis Askew was third in both the 110-meter hurdles (19.69) and 300-meter hurdle (46.64). JaKobe Robinson finished third in the high jump with a leap of 5-8.
The Saints finished second in the 400 X 4 relay with a time of 3:46.03 behind the foursome Kamau Little, Travion Johnson, JaKobe Robinson and Preston Wallace.
ECA shined at the meet behind the brother and sister tandem of Rashni Walker and Malachi Walker.
Rashini Walker won three events: 100-meter hurdles (15.79), 300-meter hurdles (48.65) and long jump (15-8). Malachi Walker of ECA finished second in the high jump with a leap of 5-8.
None of the Lady Saints won a medal, but LynDerika Harris and Shikya Stephens all had their best times of the season in their respective events. Harris competed in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter runs and long jump. Stephens did the shotput, discus and javelin.
Selma track coach Katasha Turner said was pleased with the team’s performance, especially that several members produced their personal best times.
