The town of Orrville will host their second annual Wild Game Cook-Off March 23, this Saturday at the Orrville Community Center.

According to Orrville Mayor Louvenia Lumpkin, after the success of the first Wild Game Cook-Off, it was inevitable that the town would hold another one this year.

Lumpkin says that around 75-100 people showed up with participants coming from as far as Mobile.

Lumpkin expects even more participants to attend the Cook-Off this year.

If last year’s Cook-Off is any indication, then there is sure to be a wide variety of exotic meats at this year’s event as well.

The many types of wild game included venison, wild boar, squirrel, rabbit, frog legs and even raccoon.

A first and second place trophy will be presented to winners in three categories: meat, fish and fowl.

Lumpkin says her favorite part of the event is the sense of community that come with the diverse group sharing food and conversation.

“I just love everybody sitting and talking and eating and fellowshipping with one another,” said Lumpkin.

There is no entry fee for the event. For more information call (334) 996-9726 or email Lumpkin at diannie7@aol.com.
