The MJ93-90 Not Your Usual Health Fair brought a large crowd to Wallace Community College-Selma on Saturday Morning.
According to Thomasene Johnson, an MJ93-90 partner, the event offers much more than what you’d find at your typical health fair.
The event had the typical vendors associated with health fairs, such as heart rate and blood pressure checks, but also featured vendors with alternative methods of wellness like massage therapy, essential oils and herbal supplements.
In addition to vendors and volunteers promoting all different kinds of health and fitness, there were also different classes being taught by different trainers.
Attendees could try their hand at High-Intensity Interval Training or a relaxing yoga session.
MJ 93-90, founded by Selma native and Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Michael Johnson, put on the Not Your Usual Health Fair to promote health and fitness within the community, especially among children.
MJ93-90 aims to combat problems like obesity, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, many of which plague Johnson’s own family.
