Marion will soon host their third Jazz on the Square as part of their third and final year of their Marion-Perry County Bicentennial Celebrations.

This year’s Jazz on the Square will take place on Saturday, April 6 from 3-8 p.m and admission is free. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair have a seat on the square and enjoy the music.

According to Susan Passmore, Vice President of Main Street Marion, the event has seen a huge draw for such a small town the last two years.

About 500 people of the town’s population of 3,000 have come out to enjoy the food, vendors and free music.

Passmore says the committee made the decision to keep the event free to encourage participation and service the community.

Passmore added that her favorite part of the event every year has been seeing the unity that the event brings to Marion every year.

“Bringing the community together has been so wonderful. To see everyone set up on Marion’s beautiful square is just great,” said Passmore.

Though this is the final year of the Marion Bicentennial Celebration, Passmore say Jazz on the Square could continue if this year’s event is as successful as the last two years have been.
