Selma Mayor Darrio Melton addressed the crowd before kickoff and officially welcomed the Vikings to the Queen city.

Running backs Warner Wilson and Randy Sleighton each scored a touchdown and two-point conversion. Running back Michael Walker also scored a rushing touchdown. Quarterback Victor Callaway scored on a two-point conversion. Defensive back Anthony Oliver scored on a 60-yard fumble return for a touchdown.

The Vikings’ defense, however, were unable to stop Jets quarterback Jeffrey Krisiak, who threw five touchdown passes. He passed for over 200 yards and threw scoring tosses of 5, 35, 15, 50 and 70 yards.

Selma City coach Charlie Morgan was pleased with the Vikings’ effort.

“It was a hard fought and close game,” Morgan said. “We’ve got a few things to work on. We put on a good show for the city.”

Jets coach Fred Barnett was classy in the victory. He praised the Vikings, who went 2-8 in Montgomery last season.

“We’re in the National Conference, you’re in the American conference, we hope to face you again in the championship game,” Barnett said.
