The Selma Police Department (SPD) is on the scene of a shooting at the horseshoe area of GWC.

SPD Chief Spencer Collier said that Selma Patrol officers were dispatched to the housing complex shortly after midnight regarding a vehicle fire.

Collier identified the victim as Alan Bishop, 36 of Marion.

“He had been shot multiple times and was determined to be deceased on the scene by the Dallas County Coroner,” said Collier.

Collier also said initial investigations indicate that the victim went outside after seeing his vehicle on fire and was shot by multiple suspects.

“A second victim, a black female age 26, was struck by shrapnel from gunfire while inside an unrelated adjacent apartment,” said Collier.

Collier said the female victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

“We are still on scene processing,” said Collier at 3 a.m. Tuesday morning.

This is the first homicide of 2019 in Selma.
