Student Government Association (SGA) members of the Wallace Community College-Selma (WCCS) served meals to homeless on Wednesday at the Edmunite Missions Bosco Nutrition Center.

President Tayla Bonner, Activities Coordinator Shawn Cole, Public Relations Coordinator Tyala Bonner and members Kianna Thomas and Arecia Simpson joined SGA Advisor Corey Bowie in volunteering their time.

Tayla Bonner said it was her first time serving meals and enjoyed herself.

“I feel good about, but I feel that I can do more,” Tayla Bonner said. “Sometime in the spring, I’ll come on my own and serve food.”

Bonner’s twin sister, Tyala Bonner, also saw volunteering as a learning experience.

“This is a time of giving and I had no problem giving my time,” Tyala Bonner said. “I wanted to help show that Wallace Community College is here for the community.”

Thomas said she was more than willing to volunteer.

“I really like helping people and it makes me think how grateful I am,” Thomas said. “I feel good about helping people in need.”

Bowie, also the Selma City Council President, said volunteering is one of the SGA’s core values.

“It’s very important to provide service to your community,” Bowie said. “It’s one of many noteworthy projects for the SGA.”
