Rivars Steele Jackson

Rivars Steele Jackson, born November 14, 1937, was called home by her Heavenly Father Wednesday, November 14, 2018, after many years of experiencing progressive Alzheimer’s.

She was predeceased by her parents, Charles William Steele and Aline Lemoine Steele of Selma.

Survived by loving husband of 56 years, Pinkney S. Jackson; son, Samuel Charles Jackson of Orange Beach; daughter, Julia S. Jackson of Daphne, grandchildren, Brooke Elise Morgan, Carter Miles Morgan and Abigail Steele Morgan, all of Daphne.

She was born in Alexandrea, Louisiana. and grew up in Selma,. She graduated from Albert G. Parrish High School and attended Sulllins College, Briston Virginia, and A.P.I. (Auburn).

After marriage and living in Atlanta, Ga, Bogalusa, Louisiana, Camden. and Monroeville, she moved to Fairhope  in 1979. There she worked in Real Estate, becoming an Associate Broker, and graduate of Realtors Institute of Alabama. She taught 4th grade Sunday School for 14 years at Fairhope First Baptist Church and Faith Baptist Church. For many years she was a volunteer counselor for Sav-A-Life pro-life Christian ministry in Mobile and Robertsdale.

She traveled to Israel, Egypt and Europe, and used personal experiences and artifacts to enhance her Sunday School teaching. She loved to garden, bird watch, and observe all things in nature. She also played tennis with her husband for many years.

Private remembrances will be ongoing with family and friends, and reflect Rivars’ strong Christian faith and belief that end of life on this earth is the beginning of our eternal life with our Heavenly Father. Interment will be in historic Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery in Tunnel Springs.
