On Tuesday, Henley Barnes celebrated one year of business alongside family, friends and representatives from the Selma and Dallas County Chamber of Commerce. Barnes owns The Shops at Harper’s Chapel in Valley Grande.

The shop currently sells a variety of items, including men’s and women’s clothing, gift items, jewelry, candles and more. The store recently opened what Barnes calls a “man cave,” an extended section in the back of the shop to offer more selections for me.

According to Barnes, the business has done well over its year in operation and as a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

“It was better than I ever anticipated it would be,” Barnes said. “The support from Selma and Dallas County has been tremendous.

The Shops at Harper’s Chapel will be holding an open house on Sunday from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
