The second annual Miss Valley Grande Christmas Pageant will be held on Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. at Martin Middle School Gymnasium.

The pageant, coordinated by Valley Grande Council member Tammy Troha, has no residency requirement.

Troha said the pageant has generated positive feedback in the community.

“We’ve gotten a lot of interest,” Troha said. “It should be a big event. We had a lot of girls participate last year.”

The first pageant was held last year at Valley Grande’s Christmas in the Park, where Dallas County received several inches of snow.

“Last year’s pageant was fun, but it was cold,” Valley Grande City Clerk Janet Frasier said.

A Baby Miss Division was added this year to the other three divisions: Tiny Miss, Little Miss and Miss.

The Baby Miss contestants are for walking toddler through age 3 as of Nov. 15.

The Tiny Miss contestants are for ages 4 through 6 as of Nov. 15.

The Little Miss contestants are for ages 7-9 as of Nov. 15.

The Miss Valley Grande contestants are for ages 10-12 as of Nov. 15.

The pageant has a few rules. Fixed or styled pageant hair is allowed. No hair extensions or other hair pieces are allowed unless it’s something your child wears daily. No flippers or tans are allowed.

Contestants in the Baby Miss category will require a parental escort backstage and onstage. No parents of any age group contestants will be allowed backstage or onstage before or during the event. Pageant personnel will assist the contestants to line up and walk on stage.

A queen and at least three alternates will be awarded in all four groups. Queens will receive an embroidered sash, crown, trophy, flowers, be invited in the Selma Christmas parade and be a special guest at the Valley Grande Christmas tree lighting ceremony.

Rehearsal times will be held on Nov. 13 for all four groups: Baby Miss (5:30 p.m.), Tiny Miss (6 p.m.), Little Miss (6:30 p.m.) and Miss (7 p.m.).

The Pageant times for Nov. 15 are also set for all four groups: Baby Miss (6 p.m.), Tiny Miss (6:30 p.m.), Little Miss (7 p.m.) and Miss (7:30 p.m.).
