Two shootings took place Monday night in the George Washington Carver homes area in an alleged ambush.

A Selma Police Department Investigator was ambushed around 10 p.m. About 10 shots were fired at the investigator, according to Selma Police Chief Spencer Collier.

The officer wasn’t hurt in the Horeshoe section of GWC housing area.

Collier said the SPD is in contact with supporting law enforcement and they’re in the planning stages of retaliation in the GWC area. Collier said several shootings have occurred in the past in the GWC area.

Another shooting occurred in the area an hour later.  Jacoya Oliver, 31, was shot by a black female.

Collier said the SPD is still investigating the incident. He didn’t have a motive to why the second shooting took place.
