Coming Saturday, Sept. 8, the Black Belt Community Foundation and the University of West Alabama will present their Powering up for the Arts Symposium.

In an athletic heavy community, it is still good to cater to those who are interested in the arts as well.

The partnership of these two entities will bring a celebration of culture that the Black Belt area has to offer.

It has always been unique and special, and it is important the current generations learn every aspect of where they come from.

We commend the Black Belt Community Foundation and the University of West Alabama for continuing to teach us our history and to let us learn where we have come from.

Events like this deserve our support, and we encourage all who can attend this symposium to do so.
