“We try to tailor each of them for job seeker needs,” Selma Career Center Manager Clifford Hunter said.

What do I do, where do I look, what do I say, and when I do I start will be the questions asked to prospective employees.

Hunter said between five and 25 job seekers attend each seminar, located on 1411 Water Avenue.

“It’s a benefit to job seekers to help them become employable in our area,” Hunter said.

The career center also helps prepare prospective job candidates with soft skills. Soft skills are personal attributes that enable someone to interact effectively and harmoniously with others.

Soft skills qualities include having a strong work ethic, positive attitude, good communication skills, time management, problem-solving, being a team player, accepting criticism and self-confidence.

“It’s soft skills toward employment,” Hunter said. “We try to offer and provide soft skills needs for employment.’’
