Leadership Class XXV

Published 6:01 pm Monday, August 6, 2018

This past Friday and Saturday I took the first steps in the Leadership Selma-Dallas County class in a retreat to the 4-H campgrounds in Columbiana.

The last time I was in the 4-H campground was when I was 11 years old, and was just a young chubby child so not much has changed.

Also in the 17 years since I have been there, they have not upgraded the bed situation.

All kidding aside, the camp is wonderful and my class is definitely unique.

We are all different people that are coming together for one common goal: to learn more about being a servant in the county we live in.

I am looking forward to learning about the county with this amazing group of people, and forming the bonds that we have already started after this retreat.

Being part of something bigger than myself is something I have always strived to do. To better myself for a community is something I have never done just because I have never really stuck around too long in one place to be established. It amazes me even still how quickly I have found a group of people to call friends, and now being part of this class is just adding to the confirmation that at least for now, I am right where I need to be.
