Keeping true to their word, The Selma City School system checked off another goal this week in being 100 percent staffed before the school year began.

With the recent approval of personnel at their Monday night meeting brought them another step closer to achieving more of their five-year strategic plan.

The system has come a long way from being taken over by the state.

Superintendent Dr. Avis Williams and the administration have worked diligently to bring honor and positivity to the school system, and to make it a school system that we can be proud of.

Even during the summer months, Williams and others were out on the streets telling citizens about the plans the school system has for the upcoming year.

Community involvement has become everything for the school system. This weekend, the first ever Aim for Excellence 5K will kick off Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. Spots are still available by the way.

The school system is working hard to move past from the past, and are working hard to prove naysayer wrong.

Keep it up.
