Rep. Terri Sewell, D-AL, is continuing to run on her campaign promises by providing the annual Congressional Job Fair in Montgomery.

In a time when unemployment is still on the recovery, every opportunity to better yourself is important, and events like this are something that should be taken advantage of.

According to the Alabama Department of Labor, the unemployment rate in Dallas County and Selma City has risen in June.

According to the reports provided by the department, Selma City’s unemployment jumped from 6.3 percent in May to 8.9 percent in June. This is still lower than last June when the unemployment rate was 9.7 percent.

In Dallas County, the unemployment rate was 5.8 percent in May and in June, according to the department of labor, the unemployment percentage was at 8.2 percent.

We encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to find a job.

The resources are available to assist everyone that needs it.

You just have to want to fix things in your life, and one of those improvements is getting a job.

We commend Sewell for continuing her campaign promises and bringing this invaluable event to her district.
