Victim airlifted after Thursday afternoon shooting

The Selma Police Department is investigating a Thursday afternoon shooting.

According to officer Marquis Neely, the incident happened at the 100 block of Chisholm Drive around 2 p.m.

“A guy was coming out of Vasser’s Mini-Mart, and three guys jumped out of a black Honda, and followed him and tried to jump him,” Neely said. “They got into an altercation and one of the guys pulled out a gun. The bullet hit the victim’s upper part of his body. He was airlifted to UAB and is in stable condition The three guys got into the Honda and drove down Dallas Avenue.”
