Valley Grande establishes fees for building permits, inspections in city

Valley Grande set the schedule of fees for building permits and inspection on all buildings and structures in the city.

The ordinance was set at the Valley Grande City Council meeting Monday at Valley Grande City Hall.

Section one lists the schedule of fees is for all buildings, structures or alternations that require a building permit set forth in the Valley Grande Building Code. The fee should be paid as required at the time of filling out an application. Inspections are also required.

If a job is started before getting a permit, a $150 fine will be added to the permit’s price.

Here’s the list of permit fees in Section two: 

– For projects that cost $10,000 and less, no fee is required.

-For projects that cost between $10,001 and $15,000, the fee is $50 for the first $10,000, plus $5 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof to and including $15,000.

-For projects that cost between $15,001 and $25,000, the fee is $75 for the first $15,000 plus $5 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof to and including $25,000.

-For projects that cost between $25,001 and $50,000, the fee is $125 for the first $25,000 plus $5 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof and including $50,000.

-For projects that cost between $50,001 and $150,000, the fee is $250 for the first $50,000 plus $5 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof, to and including $150,000.

-For projects that cost between $150,001 and $250,000, the fee is $750 for the first $150,000, plus $5 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof to and including $250,000.

-For projects that cost between $250,001 and $500,000, the fee is $1,250 for the first $250,000 plus $3 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof to and including $500,000.

-For projects that cost between $500,001 and a million, the fee is $2,000 for the first $500,000, plus $3 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof to and including a million.

– For projects over a million, the flat fee is $5,000.

The inspection fees for all of the projects over $50,000 will receive a minimum of four inspections at $75 each and will total $300.

Section three lists the assigned project values. For residential areas, the fee is $60 per square feet for all finished and conditioned areas. For commercial areas, the fee is $80 per square feet for all finished and conditioned areas.

The one-time fees for Mobile Homes are listed in Section four. A single-wide mobile home’s scheduled and inspection fees are $500. A double-wide or larger mobile home’s scheduled and inspections are $750.

In Section five, each of the provisions of the ordinance are severable, meaning if parts of the contract are held to be illegal or otherwise unenforceable, the remainder of the contract should still apply.

Section six lists any or all part of ordinances that conflict is repealed.
