Queen City Market has gotten a new home, and owner Mandy Henry said the new location offers more space for the store’s expanding merchandise.

“I needed to expand and have more room for furniture, gifts and apparel,” she said. “We now have a lot of room for everything.”

The new location is 201 Broad Street. The store now sits at the bottom of the Woolworth Lofts, which were recently renovated by Henry and local real estate agent A.C. Reeves.

Henry said now the store is able to house furniture and larger objects.

“We’re able to showcase a lot more sofas, chairs and coffee tables that we weren’t able to showcase in our other location,” Henry said. “We just needed the space to be able to keep everything.”

Even though Queen City Market has moved, the old location will still be occupied by another store, Henry said she is excited to see more businesses coming to the city.

“There is a young lady from Clanton that is moving her boutique there, Trendy Chic Boutique,” she said. “She will be opening in the next few weeks. That’s really good for Selma.”

Henry said she hopes the new location brings new and faithful customers alike.

“My hope is that we will be a one-stop-shop for people that come to Selma and for people in town,” she said. “We have a lot of people from out of town that travel to our store to shop, so hopefully with this new expansion we can get more tourists to come to town and shop.”

Queen City Market’s hours are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
